About the distribution of substances

One missing feature on Biogenesis, from the biology point of view, is the organisms' incapacity to react to stimuli. For example, it would be interesting that some organisms were able to move towards the best feeding area or to avoid predators, etc.

We are working to implement this in version 0.6 and in this and the following (I will write soon) messages I will try to explain what are we doing and to collect new ideas.

The first thing is make that substances like CO2 or O2 not to be uniformly distributed in the medium. This way, an specie that adapts to move towards the most concentration of CO2 will have an advantage.

We have divided the world in 100x100 squares and each square can have a different concentration of each substance. If no other influences are applied, the concentration in different regions tends to become the same.

Organism take substances from the square they are release them in the this square too.

In a following message I will talk about the biochemical procedures that will occur in the organism's body and the way we will use to codify proteins.

As long as you are only dealing with 2 substances, that could pretty clearly be displayed as a dark red or blue background fading to black where there is none of the substances, and combining to purple where both are present.

With three substances (using R G & B) it would be IMHO difficult for people to tell what was happening. 4 Substances would certainly not be displayable in this manner..
