Biogenesis 0.9 released

2019-02-24

Thanks to the dedication and determination of MarcoDBAA and other collaborators, we can enjoy this new version. There are bug fixes, some optimizations, and mods Color Mod and X Mod have been included. Moreover, there are German, Portuguese and Russian translations.

Biogenesis package in Debian and Ubuntu

2011-05-05

A Biogenesis package have recently entered Debian GNU/Linux and Ubuntu repositories. If you are using one of these systems, it will be pretty easy now to install and keep Biogenesis updated. If you want, you can get the package directly from the Debian package page.

Biogenesis 0.8 released

2010-12-21

In version 0.8 there are a few improvement, such as better file management, keys to start and pause the game without using the menu, and the possibility to import genetic codes directly into the laboratory. Moreover, in this release, and thanks to Florian Haag, we have now the missing icons we needed to complete the toolbar.

Biogenesis 0.7 released

2010-03-29

In version 0.7, there can appear many more different organisms, since now they can have any symmetry value, from 1 to 8. Moreover, now it's much easier to edit genetic codes at the laboratory: you will how the organism will be while you are editing it.

Biogenesis 0.6 released

2010-03-08

Version 0.6 improves organism's state and genetic codes visualization, and in this version organisms get smaller when they have little energy.

Biogenesis 0.5 released

2007-10-21

Version 0.5 increase last version speed by using OpenGL where available, has new network capabilities, and include new tool bars to access most used commands easily. See the changelog file for the complete list of improvements.

Biogenesis 0.4 released

2006-10-29

Version 0.4 includes a complete Spanish translation, a new genetic laboratory to modify genetic codes, some more options to control even more your world (change the amount of carbon dioxide, take a photo of an organism...), the option of saving genetic codes in XML format and an increased execution speed. This version can also act as an applet.

Web page Catalan translation

2006-10-18

Biogenesis web page is now available in Catalan.

Web page Spanish translation

2006-08-29

Biogenesis web page is now available in Spanish. This is a previous step to the release of the first program version that will support this language.

Web page created

2006-07-17

Biogenesis has its own web page at last! You can find it at http://biogenesis.sourceforge.net.

The Biogenesis user manual, a web demonstration of the program or a gallery of the most impressing organisms are some examples of what can be found in it.

This page uses a modified version of the Darkness css template created by Organic Shadows. The artwork was created by Ananda Daydream, to whom I'm very grateful. And the hosting is provided by SourceForge.net.

Biogenesis 0.3 released

2006-06-23

Biogenesis simulates the processes involved in the evolution of unicellular organisms. It is a visual and intuitive demonstration of ideas like mutation, evolution or photosynthesis and can be also enjoyed as an entertainment.

This version of Biogenesis includes many new features: complete English translation, a lot of new user interaction with the world (you can clone organisms, save them to a file and restore them in another world, kill or revive them and many more options), a much more realistic form to treat metabolisms (respiration and photosynthesis use the real chemical reactions), a first approximation to the oxygen and carbon cycles and much better population stability (because the amount of carbon in the world acts as a limiting factor).

Biogenesis 0.2.1 released

2006-05-17

Biogenesis 0.2.1 is the first version of Biogeneis that is made publicly available. This release includes fully functional organisms that can grow, reproduce, mutate and evolve. It has a lot of parameters that can be changed, full documentation and it's quite stable. This release comes only in the Catalan language.

Biogenesis simulates the processes involved in the evolution of unicellular organisms. Organisms are represented through different color segments. Each color has it's own meaning and it's easy to know what an organism can do only by looking at it.

Every organism has a genetic code that corresponds to the configuration of segments that form it and is inherited by its descendants, with some random mutations. When time pass, only those organisms that has received the best mutations can survive and evolution happens. The world where these organisms live is in constant change due to the biological processes that occur in it.
