Here you can find the most spectacular organisms that evolved in Biogenesis.

Every month an organism is selected from those that people sent me and becomes the Organism of the Month. If you want to see one of your organisms at this gallery, or even as the Organism of the Month, send an email to joanq.biogenesis at gmail.com (there is not a mail link to prevent SPAM) and include the following information:

The name given to the organism. Maybe you would like to add a scientific name.
Your name or nick.
A description of the organism. For example, you can explain why do you like it, how it evolved, if you changed any parameters or influenced its appearance somehow, or any other information you think can be of interest.
Its genetic code in an attached file. Use the export option to save it.
An image of the organism in PNG format. Use the Save image option to obtain it.

Remember that only organisms created with the last program version will be accepted.

The Box Plant (Cista Caeruleus):

The Box Plant (Cista Caeruleus)

Description:

The Box Plant is more-or-less perfectly square, and has been so successful that the only organisms left in the world are Box Plants and small, needly predators resembling Spinnies. They consist of a densely folded mass of photosynthetic segments surrounded by a protective shell of overlapping blue plates. Any plants that do not conform to this model are rapidly killed off by the roving predators, who swarm amongst the Box Plants eating the dead, the deformed, and each other. The Box Plants appeared at roughly the same time as a circular version, but appear to have out-competed them.

When they first appeared around generation 360, I was surprised by the square shape, given that I hadn't intervened at all in the world (except for some parameters: 50,000 initial carbon and 0.01 mutation %), and even the initial organisms were randomly generated.

July 2012 Organism of the Month Sent by JG Carnivorous Plant Description: It is a carnivorous plant: an outer part made of red segments feeds on other organisms, and an inner part made of green segments makes photosynthesis. So it is a quite minimalistic organism (which saves energy) with two sources of food (which allows to obtains more energy). This explains its success: it evolved naturally (without genetic engineering) to became the dominant species with a large and lasting population. Download its genetic code.	June 2012 Organism of the Month Sent by Elijah Reyes Cactinfecta Description: I was fooling around with the Laboratory and made an infectious plant. After a few hundred generations it turned into this. I thought it looked like a cactus at first, and it reproduces fast enough to avoid extinction in a world filled with voracious herbivores. April 2012 Organism of the Month Sent by Лайер Антон most successful predator creature Description: This predator kills everyone. It can only survive a long time with plant having blue surface. Otherwise it eats everyone and dies because of food absence. It has an amazing reproduction rate. Download its genetic code. December 2011 Organism of the Month Sent by CIB Algae Resilia Description: Algae Resilia is a typical plant. It is a peaceful organism and survives by creating large amounts of offspring that will gather in colonies. As a stationary organism, Resilia preserves energy and avoids cannibalism, gathering energy through photosynthesis. Predators can easily kill this lifeform. However, when a colony is destroyed, often a single specimen will survive and form a new colony, while the predators move off to find new sources of food. Algae Resilia can keep predator populations in check with their extended red segments, which will ocassionally penetrate a predator's weak spot and kill it. I discovered this organism when I realized large amounts of Spinny's in my world. They killed off most of the other organisms, but Algae Resilia survived by reproducing more quickly than the Spinnys could find and kill it. Download its genetic code. Dwayne Hicks Lengua Mortifera Description: Mi organismo está pensado para ser el máximo depredador al mismo tiempo que puede ser autónomo en su energía mientras el CO2 ronde por encima del 6 por ciento más o menos. Al evolucionar y cambiar pudo destruir por completo a los otros organismos tanto que en tiempo 80 era el único organismo que quedaba, junto con su descendencia. Entonces empezó el canibalismo. December 2010 Organism of the Month Sent by RaulMarq Stuckus Segmentus Description: This little guy is very funny to watch in a crowded world - he seems to get "stuck" in other organisms segments quite a lot while he's trying to infect them. Spinny runs fast through the world, rotating continuously and hitting other organisms with its only arm. It's not the best predator, but a funny one. August 2007 Organism of the Month Sent by Yak Wraith Description: It started with a very simple design, using a one red, grey, and cyan segment. The W shape seems a very common endpoint for predators; it has looked much the same from generation 600 to the 1,700+ it's at right now. I haven't found anything that it can't kill except "defended plants" (with blue and green), nor anything that can wipe it out once it gains a minimum threshold population. Download its genetic code.	May 2007 Organism of the Month Sent by Ben FortressGrabber Description: The FortressGrabber is a predator that has evolved to combat the forests of photosynthetic, armored organisms that seem to flourish so readily. It's very similar to the mosquito, but instead of flanking arms, its arms extend forward, helping it to stay attached to an organism until it dies/is consumed. Download its genetic code.
April 2007 Organism of the Month Sent by Ben Lotus Description: The Lotus is a particularly large photosynthetic, armored organism. Its sheer size seems to help deflect types that would grab onto it, although I'm not sure if that's all that evolutionary essential, given the impregnability of blue strands. This one is very distinctive, though, and does quite well. Download its genetic code.	January 2007 Organism of the Month Sent by jwBjerk Yehat Description: The Yehat (named after a Star Control ship) has a simple, yet very resiliant form. I've tried to improve it, but the engineered Yehats die out or mutate back to something nearly identical to this. It can move quickly, and the forward-reaching arms do a good job of latching on to the projections of it's prey. Download its genetic code.
